I had a chance to see Lindsey and Mike at their friends, Alexis and Will's wedding earlier this summer. Seeing them got me really excited to document their wedding. I say this all the time, but being a wedding photographer, it's like you have a legitimate wedding crash pass to show up and take photos. And unlike a wedding crasher, you're welcome at the event. Not only that but you're treated like a special guest! If you didn't have "the pass" you wouldn't otherwise get to see what goes on and feed off the energy of the day. Yeah, I do love photographing people, but having that pass to show up at a wedding. It's like being invited into another world that you wouldn't otherwise get a chance to see. It removes you from your circle of friends and open's your eyes to a broader perspective on life. It's what makes this job so much fun and rewarding. On top of all of this, when you show up and the bride has blue shoes, well, you just know it's going to be a fun day! It's funny, when I think of Lindsey and Mike, I can't help but think of shoes. Mike's gifts to all of his groomsmen were custom ID Nike shoes - very creative and cool! And Lindsey and Mike both brought their soccer cleats for a few picks as well, which just shows how outgoing they both are. I couldn't help but smile, laugh and feel like one of the gang! Thanks for the pass guys and congratulations!
In today's day and age, it's becoming pretty commonplace to meet someone online through a dating service. And the whole idea of listing your "specs" to find the right mate makes perfect sense. But that wasn't the case with Maya and Mike. In fact, Maya basically said that on paper, they would probably be the last to be paired up! Yet after meeting each other, they found that they were so similar and compatible in many ways. This was so apparent on their wedding day. I don't think I've ever seen a couple with so many secret handshakes and funny faces that they go into at random. It was pretty hilarious. I found myself laughing while trying to document it all! That's just one of the many fun things about this job. Also, hearing so many great things about Maya and Mike throughout the day. And then to find out that Mike took on and beat CANCER with Maya by his side! That's just huge (hence the Super-Mike T-shirts)! No doubt, their positive energy and outlook on life played a role here. It's what made this day extra sweet!
Amy and Reed, Omni Parker House Hotel
It had been a few years since I've documented a wedding at the Omni Parker House in Boston, that is until August of this year. Amy and Reed's wedding marked my 2nd trip to the Omni in one month. It's a really great venue steeped in history. You almost feel like you're in the Boston of old. A bit of time traveling is always fun when you're a photographer. The ceremony was held in the Press Room. Lined with wood walls and sconces, it has a very warm quality to it - - fitting for any wedding. And it just seemed perfect for Amy and Reed -- an avid horse ridder and fireman. Two passions which are pretty much timeless.
Amy and Reed shared many laughs throughout the day. It was not unlike our engagement shoot last December. However, this time around we had the warmth on our side. But on each occasion, I noticed that Reed has this ability to make Amy laugh without any words! Just a look is all it takes and she belly's over. And he didn't hold back - not even during the ceremony. The two of them together really made everyone glow that day. Now that was fun! Thanks guys and congrats!
Also, a BIG welcome back to Reed, who served our country, and made it home safely to marry his bride!
